Artist Virginia Valentine Coles has spent most of her life skillfully creating a fascinating body of original surrealistic art through the classical disciplines of oil painting and drawing. With imagination Virginia expresses unconscious desires by choosing organic forms and complex color schemes for her dreamlike compositions. Melancholy, obscurity, enigma, reminiscence and veiled eroticism are essential subjects of her work.
Born in the Village of Bronxville, New York, she was tutored in drawing and painting from the age of seven. At the age of fourteen Virginia won her first international design competition. Other awards followed, as well as national exhibits of her work.
